Dear Neighbors,

On Saturday, August 16th at 10am at the Quogue Village Court House, Save the Dunes and Beaches Foundation will present the third installment of the “Summer Seashell Series” to discuss the “Nuts and Bolts of Beach Restoration and the Economics of Project Financing.”

At the June 21st meeting, we brought “Science to the Shore” (Sea Grant’s Mission Statement) with presentations by world renowned and respected coastal engineer, Old Dominion University’s Dr. David Basco, and Sea Grant’s Jay Tanski, a coastal geologist.

At the second installment of the “Summer Seashell Series”, on July 19th, SDBF board members and coastal expert Aram Terchunian gathered at the Quogue Village Beach, replete with informational posters and handouts available as well as the chance to engage in thoughtful dialogue. As SH Press reporter, Alexa Gorman noted, “the beach was both site of the meeting as well as the topic.”

Our efforts are paying off and we’re seeing wide support for beach nourishment, especially at the east end of Quogue. Let’s not lose the momentum; please join us at 10am on August 16th. With your help and support, beach nourishment will become a reality.

Warm regards,

Marjorie Kuhn
President, SDBF
